This conceptual piece was made as part of an in-studio competition. I’ve always had a love for the tradition Russian nesting dolls and the intricate, fine details added by hand with paint. This Babushka is set in Japan at the foot of Mount Fuji. I really liked the idea of something “unexpected” popping out of the nesting doll at the end.
