I got to work on this fun spot while working at Wicked Pixels. I was tasked to create a cherry that split into to cherries on a stalk. The cherry animation went through various stages from flat 2D animation to realistic cherries and then ended up as candy-like cherries with purple stalks. I created the “string cheese” splitting effect using Cinema 4D’s Volume Builder / Mesher.

2D “Gamified” Splitting cherries

Here is an WIP of the realistic cherry look & feel that was decided against. There was also the addition of secondary animation of bubbles / liquid escaping when the cherries split. That too was scrapped in the final version as seen above.
